If you want Easy, Affordable, Quick and Impressive minion costumes then this is the tutorial for you! My friend put together these brilliant costumes. It took her about 2 hours to make them and they turned out super cute and even won best couple costume at our church Halloween party:)
Evil Purple Minion
6 yards light purple tulle
6 yards dark purple tulle
2.5″-3″ Black Elastic
Minion Hat Set from Etsy
The bib was loosely crocheted – just a simple crochet block with a double crochet stitch, nothing fancy – and slip stitched to elastic over the shoulders and around the chest.
The tulle for this one was cheaper by the yard than by the spool. For a VERY full skirt you’ll need 12 yards – 6 yards of light purple and 6 yards of dark purple.
Cut the tulle in 6 inch wide strips the width of the tulle. You’ll be able to easily tie the strips to the bottom 2 rows of the crocheted chest block. Tie the light strips on top and the dark strips on bottom.
NOTE: 45″ wide tulle is the perfect length for a child that is 43″ tall
The Minion eye is made from felt and glued on a black elastic band that goes around the waist.
The Yellow Minion
Carter’s yellow onsie
Overall’s from Ebay
Hat from StitchKouture’s Etsy Shop
Cover up the logo on the carter’s onsie with black felt.
Make the gru symbol with felt and then sew it to the front of the overalls.
The hats are from StitchKouture’s Etsy Shop. You can get a pair for $30 or a single for $20. StitchKouture is super friendly. She even gave the yellow minion hat a blue eye so it would match the eyes of the wearer!
Voila! You have two super cute Minion costumes.
